Our 2026 Whole House Color Palette: Warm & Layered Color Ideas

As you already might know, I believe painting is one of the easiest ways to completely transform a room, and I absolutely love it. I have changed the color of my walls more times than I probably should, but I also believe that creating a home takes time. Finding the right interior paint colors and figuring out what works best in your space doesn’t always happen on the first try, and that’s part of the fun.
If you’ve read my previous post about the colors throughout our home, you might notice that things look a little different around here. That post was published in 2025, and a lot has happened since then. We’ve made some changes, lived with some colors, changed our minds about others, and continued to figure out what feels right for our home. So consider this the updated version of our whole house color palette and a look at how our home decor has evolved since that original post.
One thing that hasn’t changed is my love for warm colors. I’m naturally drawn to warm, earthy paint colors because they instantly make a space feel more inviting, layered, and cozy. I love how the right color can add warmth and depth to a room while also helping the entire home feel cohesive. To me, those little touches of warmth are what take a house beyond simply looking good and make it feel like home.
So today, I’m sharing our updated home color palette, the interior paint colors we’re currently using throughout the house, and some of the changes we’ve made since my original post. Primary Bedroom
This room went through a major transformation, from a light gray with green undertones to the most perfect shade of pink.

Primary Bathroom
A primary bathroom renovation was long overdue! When we first moved in, we made a few quick, temporary updates to this small space, but eventually, it was time to bring some joy back into the bathroom. Living Room
This room went through a major transformation at the end of 2024, and I don’t think I’ll be making any color changes in here for a while. But then again, you probably shouldn’t trust me on that!
This room used to be a stark white, and we painted it a much softer, creamy white. Even though the two colors are very similar, that small change made a surprisingly big difference. The warmer white instantly made the room feel softer, cozier, and more inviting.

Hall Bathroom
This is our kids' bathroom. Choosing a bold color for the vanity was a no-brainer. This room feels like sunshine!

I love painting unexpected spaces like inside closets and cabinets. I chose Alaea by Sherwin Williams for inside this linen closet, I love how it looks with the yellow cabinets.
Dining Room
This room hasn’t changed much at all. We kept the walls very neutral, almost like a blank canvas, and I still love it that way. I recently changed the light fixture and may move a few things around on the walls, but that’s about it. What I really love about this space is creating beautiful tablescapes when hosting season rolls around!

Study/Guest Bedroom
Who remembers this room when it was dark blue? Not me! Even though I loved the color on its own, it made the room feel darker and a little sad because of the way the natural light hit it throughout the day. This is a northeast-facing room, so the way colors look in here can be completely different from how they look in other parts of the house.
We switched to a warmer color, and I haven’t regretted it for a second. It feels so much brighter, warmer, and cozier now. The only thing I’ve been considering lately is painting the planked ceiling, too. Should I do it? What do you think?

Entryway

Family Room
I think this is the room I’ve painted the most! It took me four tries to finally land on the perfect color, but honestly, I’m okay with that. Creating a home takes time, and sometimes it takes a few mistakes, changes, and do-overs to get there. That’s all part of the process!

Multi-Purpose Room
This room went through a major transformation back in 2025. We gave our IKEA cabinet a makeover and DIYed a window seat, and paired with the soft, warm green color we chose, it completely transformed this once-chaotic space. It used to stress me out because it always felt like a mess, but now it feels calm, collected, and so much more inviting.

Laundry Space

House Exterior
Our front porch went through a major transformation, but it happened slowly and intentionally. When we first moved in, we removed some plants, limewashed the brick, and painted the exterior stucco, and that alone made a huge difference. The magic of paint, you know?
Over time, we changed the front door, added shutters, and wrapped the porch columns. It took us six years to get here, but it was so worth it!

And that’s it for now! I absolutely love how our home looks and, more importantly, how it feels. But I also know that a home grows and evolves right alongside you, and I’m sure ours will continue to do the same.
