Hi, I’m Valeria.

I am a wife and a mom of three and we have 2 dogs. Peruvian-born and raised. I moved to California in my early 20s, fresh out of college, to follow my heart, bringing with me only one suitcase and a head full of dreams.

A couple of years later, after becoming a mom, I found myself craving a sense of home again. Starting in a new country with so many unfamiliar things and a new language, I felt lost. Where is Valeria? I needed to find myself and it all started from the place we lived in, so I started decorating our small rental house and making it feel like a home for our family within our means.

Growing up in a smaller city in Peru far from the capital, I wasn't exposed to big designer names or brands. But I remember my mom used to have three design books that I always found myself browsing and daydreaming, she also loved interior design and she always made our home feel so cozy. More than beautiful things, I always remember how my childhood home felt like. 

My first encounter with home decor brands was after I moved to the U.S., when I used to work as a house cleaner, admiring the decor of our clients' homes. Seeing all those beautiful homes, I dreamt about the day I could decorate my own home, which felt like a huge dream back then. 

In 2017, I started my journey on Instagram with a small vintage rug shop named after my grandma and my mom, Rebecca and Genevieve. I named my Instagram page and shop in honor of the two strong, inspiring, loving women that taught me the meaning of HOME, which is above all, family, but it is also a feeling, welcoming, safe, cozy place where we can be ourselves.

In 2020, we bought our first home. After years of hard work, starting from zero in a new country, buying our first home was a dream come true! We saw so much potential in this late 60’s old house, but it needed some love - or a lot. In the same year, I took the leap of faith and decided to become a content creator, documenting our home renovation journey and share it with everyone that followed me on my page @rebeccaandgenevieve.

In 2021, after 3 years in business, I made the difficult decision to close my rug shop. After some time sharing our house makeover journey, content creation became my full-time job. It's still pretty surreal to think about how it all started and that now I get to work with some of the brands I only dreamt about a few years back.

Since day one, we have been transforming our house one project at a time, from small cosmetic changes to big renovation projects. DIYing as much as we can ourselves, my husband Paul, alongside our three kids. 

With this home, I feel like I found my personal style. With this house, I got to experiment with design, constantly pushing myself creatively. I love mixing old and new, pattern and color, and my hope is that I can inspire you to do the same!
