5 Easy Ways to Transition Your Home Decor for Fall
The calm before the storm Autumn is my favorite season for home decor. It’s the perfect time to get creative and make your home feel cozy without going all out with holiday decorations. Don’t get me wrong, I love decorating for Christmas, but there’s something so special about adding subtle fall touches and warm accents throughout my home. The best part? You don’t need to spend a fortune. Today, I’m sharing easy ways to transition your home decor for fall using simple pieces you can find at your local store, or even better, items you probably already own.
1. Warm Colors
Think olive green, burgundy, terracotta, and rust. These shades instantly bring autumn indoors. Use them as pops of color in pillows, throws, coffee table books, vases or greenery.
2. Cozy Textiles
It’s not just about color, fall is all about layering in texture. Think chunky knits, velvet, or faux fur to instantly cozy up your space. An easy way to swap out textiles is by using throws and pillows or updating your bedding (plaid is always a classic choice!). Refreshing these simple pieces is one of the easiest ways to transition your home decor for the season.
3. Accent Lightning & Small Lamps
Overhead lighting can feel harsh (I never ever use it). This season, swap it out for table lamps or sconces to create a warm and inviting glow throughout your space.
4. Decorative Candles
Candles are the ultimate fall accessory. From candlesticks and sconces to flameless pillar candles, they instantly add warmth, ambiance, and style.
5. Seasonal Scents (That Are Not Pumpkin Spice!)
Color, texture, and lighting set the mood—but scent completes the atmosphere. Instead of just pumpkin spice, try earthy fall scents like cedarwood, sandalwood, amber, musk, fig, tobacco, or vanilla. They’ll make your home feel cozy and unique.
