Casual and layered entryway idea

Creating special spaces in our home is my favorite thing. Decorating always brings me so much joy and I try to always dedicate time to our home because to me it is important, I always feel that when you give love to your home, your home loves you back.

We have this corner by the side of the stairs that I've been struggling with. We don't have an entryway in our home so I wanted to create some sort of an entryway or an extra lounging/reading corner, a functional and beautiful space.

I found this gorgeous handwoven Malibu bench from Pottery Barn and it was the piece that sparked the inspiration for everything else.

Pottery Barn is sponsoring this post and I am honored to be working with them to spread the word about their sustainability initiative.

Pottery Barn, as a leader in sustainability has a longstanding commitment of sourcing from well-managed timber suppliers and increasing the use of wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.

Did you know that Pottery Barn has set a goal to plant three million trees by the end of 2023?  Trees and forests are a crucial part of the Earth’s ecosystem, through this partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, the largest environmental nonprofit dedicated to planting trees, Pottery Barn will plant one tree for every piece of indoor wood furniture* sold -*Indoor wood furniture containing at least 80% of wood; upholstery furniture is excluded.- So far this year they have planted 650k trees and counting! You can read more about it here.

Apart from the bench that I loved, I found this beautiful live edge mirror which is Fair Trade Certified™, It adds such an organic and rustic touch to the space and then paired with a brass sconce on the side it just makes the perfect mix of materials that I always love.

I wanted to create a pretty layered view, adding pillows was the next step. A mix of textures is always the way to go when creating a pillow combination. The perfect mix always has a solid colored pillow, a neutral textured pillow and a pattern.

You can also do one solid, one small neutral pattern like a striped pillow and then a patterned one that complements the other two. Mixing different pillow sizes for a good balance is also a great idea.

This cozy fleece pillow was my base, it is the perfect solid pillow with a beautiful texture, then this gorgeous textured pom pom indoor/outdoor pillow that I will probably take outside once that space is done and of course a dose of color and pattern with a vintage pillow. Don't forget a casual throw blanket!

You can’t call a space done without some greens. Plants, florals, branches, every space ALWAYS needs some greenery to come to life. It can be real or faux, but if you do faux make sure it is a realistic looking one, like this handcrafted faux green leaf tree, it does look so good! I am impressed with it.

For the walls, one piece of frameless vintage art, something unexpected like a hat and a hand made brass sconce for ambiance at dusk. Keep it simple but make it special and lived in. I think it is always fun when you can see some personal touches in decor, that is what makes a space one of a kind.

I think this space only needs some hooks and a basket and it could totally work as a functional and beautiful entryway idea, don't you think?

Not to mention that it feels good knowing that the purchase of these furniture pieces contribute to Pottery Barn’s mission to plant a tree for every wood furniture purchase.

Beautiful home decor can be sustainable as well. Let's do our part and shop fair trade, responsibly sourced materials and when we can let’s add some vintage to the mix as well.
